The finest song about methylenedioxy-N-methylamphetamine-assisted love since Arab Strap's The Shy Retirer, Floating hails from Dublin's finest Richie Jape. The track's been doing the rounds as part of Jack White/Brendan Benson fronted Raconteurs' live sets by a twist of fate and good taste. For sheer perfection though, try the original.

Subtle – I Heart L.A.
Sometimes there comes music that defies you to name it, that to label would be an exercise in futility. Hip-hop, ambient, indie, I Heart L.A. is all of these things and more but as Jesse Jackson once said, "We know that music is music." Subtle set off for destinations unknown some time ago and, despite some rotten fucking luck, have been reporting back peerless poetry, musical innovations, conceptual characters and the merciless baiting of slebs from the great beyond ever since.

Tuco – Can't Tell The Good From The Bad
Named after Tuco Benedicto Pacifico Juan Maria Ramirez or "the Ugly" in Sergio Leone's Dollars trilogy, Tuco were a Warrington quartet that briefly existed for one flawless atmospheric EP The Shrinking Process and are now sadly no more. In some parallel world, they're Coldplay-size.
